Things to help a nervous horse figure out what causes it.
- start with ground work getting control on the ground in a quiet manner, show drive forward, come off pressure versus chasing hip.
- use ball, poles tarp, bridge, cones for confidence.
- show ball as security blanket.
- proceed to riding , going over some of the same principles
- cantering circles then go to ball
- give the horse a job apply pressure, release pressure
- nervous horses have usually had too much pressure applied to them, they are not trusting |
