Jen G, had this to say: "On November 1st & 2nd 2008, Tommy Garland was kind enough to use Gideon as his demo horse at the Richmond Horse Extravaganza. Before Tommy instilled CPR in Gideon and me, I was not holding out much hope for our future together as horse and rider. After three short lessons with Tommy, Gideon was respectful , I was confident, and we gained a great deal of patience with each other! I went home applied my new skills and Gideon and I are now operating as one! From a horse that would spook at a grasshopper to a sane, trusting companion who looks for my lead and trusts that I am going to keep him safe. Gideon and I are the perfect horse and rider pair I dreamed of when I bought him!"
Jack emailed this after attending the November 22 & 23 Clinic at the Garland facility: “Both my horse and I realized a dramatic improvement in just one day (2 sessions of training) during a two day clinic at Tommy Garlands beautiful facility. There are many clinicians who are excellent horsemen, and I would certainly include Tommy in this category. However, he has the additional talent of being able to communicate with folks of many different personalities and gain their confidence so his instruction can be easily followed. I started this clinic with a very excited horse, and after considerable ground work, was able to ride over “spook able” objects such as tarps, poles, etc. have him “stand quietly on a wood platform when asked and play “kickball” in the arena. I am most pleased with the results experienced with my horse and the training methods that I learned .”

The facilities are wonderful and Dawn and Tommy Garland and their family and staff couldn't have been more helpful or hospitable. Tommy has a calm, confident way about him that makes the learning process a very pleasant experience. He specifically inquired about our problem areas and addressed every one of them during the course of the clinic. The general ground and round pen work we did the first day paved the way for attacking each of our problems the second day in more detail."
